A short stroll away, the beaches of glamorous Psarou, Paranga, and Agia Anna await, along with the iconic promontory where ultra-cool Scorpios holds court. Platis Gialos Bay is just five kilometres (three miles) from Mykonos Town, known locally as Chora. Famed for its relaxed charm, historical allure, and striking Cycladic architecture, Chora is a maze of whitewashed houses and cobbled passages lined with boutiques showcasing local craftsmanship alongside international fashion. Its lively bars, clubs, and tavernas create an atmosphere that is uniquely Mykonos. A public bus runs from the beach boardwalk to Fabrica Square every half hour from 8 a.m. to 4 a.m. in peak season (July and August) or hourly in other months.

Famously mentioned in Homer’s Odyssey, the neighbouring island of Delos is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the most significant mythological and archaeological sites in the Mediterranean. The island was a sacred sanctuary long before Olympian Greek mythology designated it as the birthplace of Apollo, god of light, and his twin, the goddess of wild nature known as Artemis. Ferries to explore the island’s spectacular ruins and museum depart from the town harbour. Alternatively, you may choose to combine this with a visit to the neighbouring desert island of Rhenia, or the hidden coves of Mykonos by private launch

    Mykonos is an ideal year-round getaway. With its typical Mediterranean climate, the island enjoys mild winters, long dry summers, perpetual sunshine, clear blue skies, and the occasional refreshing breeze brought by the seasonal Meltemi winds in the summer months. Temperatures in July and August often peak between 32°C and 35°C (89°F to 95°F).

    Daily ferries connect Mykonos to the mainland ports Piraeus and Rafina, as well as the Cycladic islands of Tinos, Syros, Paros, Naxos, Ios, Santorini, Andros, and Amorgos.
